My name is Jiang Yan Zhen. I come from Fukian, China. I speak Mandarin.

I have been in the United States for about 10 years. I came to the United States on June 1st. I got married about nine years ago. I have three children. They all go to school.

I live in Chinatown. I live in a apartment building. It is a 5-story building. I live on the 2nd floor. My neighbors are Chinese. My apartment is uncomfortable because it is too small for 4 people to live in. So it is my dream to have a big house for my family.

I don’t work now. I am a housewife. I take care of my children. I have time. I take an ESL class in the morning Monday-Thursday to study English. After I finish the class, I go home and help my children with their homework. At home, I do a lot of things, such as making beds, sweeping the floor, cooking, cleaning the apartment, and doing the laundry. Taking care of children requires a lot of work. I work very hard, but I am very happy.

My husband works in a restaurant as a cook. He doesn’t like his job because it is too hard and he often has to work overtime. He doesn’t have health insurance or any other benefits.

I like his job because he can cook a lot of nice food for my family. My favorite food is stew ox tail and sauté lobster. Most of Chinese food tastes good.

I have decided to go back to my home country after my children grow up. Many people believe America is a nice place to go to earn a lot of money. But to many people it is nothing but a dream.
